Odoo 14 to Odoo 17: Migrating Bla Bla Without Losing Custom Workflows

The project

Bla Bla Beach Club Resort is a well-known name in food, beverage and hospitality. It was running Odoo 14 with a set of custom-built modules shaped around how the venue actually operates — and needed to move to Odoo 17 without losing any of it.

A version jump is the easy part. Carrying bespoke modules across three major releases is where upgrades usually stall.

How we handled it

We migrated the core platform and every custom module together, testing each one for compatibility on Odoo 17 and tuning performance along the way. All custom workflows were preserved. Historical data came across intact.

Rebuilding inventory adjustment tracking

The clearest example was inventory adjustment history. Odoo 17 does not carry the stock adjustment history feature that existed in Odoo 14, and Bla Bla’s finance team relied on it.

Rather than ask them to change how they work, we built a custom Stock Adjustment document flow that reproduces the behaviour. The team can still track, review and audit past inventory adjustments exactly as before — the control stayed, the version moved forward.

Simplifying the structure

Alongside the migration, we reworked the Analytic Accounts and Inventory Location structure to match where the business is heading rather than where it had been. The result is a cleaner setup, clearer reporting and less friction between departments.

Where they are now

Bla Bla Beach Club Resort is on Odoo 17 with a faster, better-looking system, full access to historical data, and every custom flow still in place. We continue to support them as they scale.
