Industry ERP software in the UAE

Five industries worked hands on.
We arrive knowing where the gaps usually are.

QZ Infomatics delivers industry-specific ERP software across five sectors in the UAE: contracting and construction, manufacturing, trading and distribution, facility management, and food and beverage. Each configuration is built around the unit of work that business actually runs on, whether that is a project, a batch, a shipment or an asset. We implement Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle NetSuite and CogniVision AI.

Why the fit matters

Generic ERP tracks a company. Your business is tracked by something else.

Every implementation that goes over budget in this region goes over budget the same way: a generic system is forced, through custom development, to understand a unit of work it was never built to hold.

Generic ERP

Built around the company

  • × Revenue recognised when you invoice, not as you certify
  • × Cost known at month end, once someone assembles it
  • × Retention, variations and back-charges live in spreadsheets
  • × Traceability bolted on after the auditor asks
  • × Every gap closed with custom development you pay to maintain
Industry ERP

Built around the unit of work

  • ✓ A project for contractors — BOQ, WBS, cost code, certificate
  • ✓ A batch for manufacturers and food — lot, expiry, recall path
  • ✓ A shipment for distributors — landed cost, margin at line level
  • ✓ An asset for facilities — register, PPM schedule, SLA clock
  • ✓ Standard configuration, so upgrades stay cheap

The five blocks below are the version of that argument for your industry. Each one links to the full page, and to the deeper software pages underneath it.

Industry 01 — where we are strongest

Construction & contracting ERP

Main contractors, MEP and specialist subcontractors, fit-out, infrastructure, landscaping and steel fabrication. Multiple sites, retention held for years, and margins that do not forgive a surprise in month three.

What breaks today

  • › Committed cost is invisible, so a package is over budget before anyone sees it
  • › Subcontractor certification and back-charges reconciled by hand every month
  • › Retention receivable nobody can age, across jobs closed years ago
  • › Approved variations sitting uncertified and unbilled

What we put in

Platform we usually land on

Odoo under 100 users, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations when the team already lives in Microsoft 365, Oracle NetSuite once several entities close separately. Compare all four →

Industry 02

Manufacturing ERP

Discrete and process manufacturers across the Northern Emirates and Sharjah. Planning built around how your floor actually runs, not around a textbook routing.

What breaks today

  • › Production planned in a spreadsheet the floor ignores
  • › True cost per unit known weeks after the run finishes
  • › Batch traceability reconstructed by hand when an auditor asks
  • › Machine downtime nobody can put a number against

What we put in

Platform we usually land on

Odoo for MRP, works orders and batch costing on a single plant. Dynamics 365 once planning spans sites. NetSuite is usually overkill here.

Manufacturing floor running on an ERP with live production data

Industry 03

Trading & distribution ERP

Importers, wholesalers and multi-warehouse distributors across the UAE and wider GCC, where the whole business is decided by landed cost and the discipline to hold price.

What breaks today

  • › Landed cost estimated, so real margin per line is a guess
  • › Stock accurate in one warehouse and fiction in the next
  • › Supplier terms and rebates tracked outside the system
  • › Four companies producing four closes and one group number nobody trusts
Platform we usually land on

Odoo for a single trading entity. Oracle NetSuite the moment intercompany elimination and one close across countries is the real problem.

Distribution warehouse operating on a multi-warehouse ERP

Industry 04

Facility management software

FM providers and in-house teams running planned maintenance against SLAs, with technicians who need to close a job from a phone in a basement plant room.

What breaks today

  • › Asset register in a spreadsheet that stopped being true two years ago
  • › Scheduling and dispatch running on WhatsApp and paper job cards
  • › SLA breaches discovered in the client meeting, not before it
  • › No number for cost per asset, so renewals are negotiated blind

What we put in

Platform we usually land on

Odoo or Finance & Operations as the financial core, with Zuper FSM doing the field work. The ERP alone is not the answer in this industry.

Facility management technician closing a work order on site

Industry 05

Food & beverage ERP

Central kitchens, food manufacturers and multi-outlet operators, where shelf life, recipe cost and a traceability trail that satisfies an auditor on the first pass are the whole job.

What breaks today

  • › Recipe cost recalculated by hand every time an ingredient price moves
  • › Wastage visible only at stock count
  • › Batch and expiry tracked well enough to sell, not well enough to recall
  • › Outlet-level margin arriving too late to act on
Platform we usually land on

Odoo for shelf life, recipes and outlet costing. NetSuite once production and retail sit in separate legal entities.

Industry questions

What buyers in your industry ask first

Which ERP software is best for construction companies in the UAE?

The best construction ERP is the one that handles BOQ-linked budgets, subcontractor certification, retention, variations and progressive billing without custom development. Odoo suits contractors under 100 users, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations suits mid-sized contractors already on Microsoft 365, and Oracle NetSuite suits groups consolidating several entities. Because we implement all of them, the recommendation follows your requirements rather than a licence quota. See the full construction ERP page.

What is the difference between generic ERP and industry ERP?

Generic ERP tracks a company. Industry ERP tracks the unit of work your business actually runs on: a project for contractors, a batch for manufacturers and food producers, a shipment for distributors, an asset for facilities teams. A generic system can be forced to do these with custom development, which is where most UAE implementations go over budget and become expensive to upgrade.

Do you handle batch traceability for food manufacturers?

Yes. Batch and lot control, expiry and shelf life, recipe costing and full forward and backward traceability are configured as standard, not added afterwards. The test we set is that you can produce a complete recall trail without leaving the system. Food & beverage ERP.

We run several entities across the GCC. What changes?

Intercompany elimination and consolidation are handled once in the system rather than rebuilt every month end. This is where Oracle NetSuite earns its cost, and where Odoo starts to strain. We scope entity structure in discovery because it changes the platform recommendation more than headcount does. Multi-entity groups.

Can facility management run on ERP alone?

Usually not, and we will say so. The financial core sits in Odoo or Finance & Operations, but scheduling, dispatch, mobile job cards and SLA tracking belong in a field service platform. We implement Zuper FSM alongside the ERP and integrate the two so job cost flows back to the ledger. Facility management software.

How long does an implementation take in our industry?

A focused single-entity implementation runs 8 to 12 weeks in any of these five industries. Two or three integrations pushes it to 12 to 20 weeks. Multi-entity or multi-country rollouts run 20 to 32 weeks. The timeline is published in the proposal and we hold to it. How we implement.

Our industry is not on this page. Can you still help?

Sometimes. These five are where we have delivered repeatedly and can price with confidence. If your business is close to one of them we will say which and why. If it is not, we will tell you that too rather than learn on your budget. Talk to a consultant.
