What a UAE Odoo deployment needs beyond the standard install
VAT

What is Odoo ERP?
Odoo is an open-source business management suite with modules for accounting, inventory, sales, CRM, purchasing, manufacturing and HR, all sharing one database. You enable only the apps you need and add others as you grow, which makes it one of the more affordable ERP routes for UAE SMEs.
Why do UAE businesses choose Odoo?
Odoo’s appeal in the UAE is the combination of low entry cost, modular scope and a large local implementation community. It localises well for 5% VAT, WPS payroll and bilingual Arabic invoicing, and it works for a 10-user trading company and a 200-user manufacturer alike — a range most enterprise platforms cannot cover.
What is the difference between Odoo Community and Enterprise?
Community is the free open-source edition with core apps and no vendor support. Enterprise is the paid subscription, adding mobile apps, the Studio customisation tool, accounting features such as bank synchronisation, official support and hosting on Odoo Online. Most UAE businesses running Odoo commercially use Enterprise.
What does Odoo cost to license and implement?
Odoo Enterprise is licensed per user per month, with the app selection affecting the plan rather than the per-user price. Implementation, data migration, localisation and training are quoted separately and usually exceed the first year of licensing. The pricing page sets out how each element is calculated.
Is Odoo VAT-compliant in the UAE?
Yes. Odoo handles 5% VAT, zero-rated and exempt treatments and reverse charge on imports, and produces the summary needed for the FTA VAT return. Tax-invoice layouts can be configured with the mandatory fields and the bilingual Arabic-English formatting many UAE customers expect.
Can Odoo be customised for our processes?
Yes, extensively — which is the main reason businesses pick it. Fields, workflows, approval rules, reports and full custom modules can all be built. The discipline that matters is customising only where a process is genuinely a competitive advantage, since over-customised Odoo becomes expensive to upgrade at each release.
How long does an Odoo implementation take?
Six to eight weeks for a small single-company deployment using standard apps. Multi-company, multi-currency or manufacturing setups typically run three to five months. The timeline depends far more on the quality of your opening data and the speed of internal decisions than on the configuration work itself.
Do you provide Odoo support after go-live?
Yes. Post-go-live support covers user questions, bug fixes, new report requests, version upgrades and additional module rollouts, normally under an annual maintenance contract. Support is where most Odoo projects succeed or quietly fail — a system nobody maintains drifts out of use within about a year.
How does Odoo compare to Zoho, SAP and NetSuite?
Odoo sits between lightweight suites such as Zoho and enterprise platforms such as SAP or NetSuite: broader and deeper than the former, faster and cheaper to deploy than the latter.
