IoT Solutions for Enterprise

Your equipment already knows when something is wrong.
It just has no way of telling you.

IoT connects machines, vehicles and buildings to software through sensors and gateways, so their condition and location are visible without anyone walking over to check. QZ Infomatics designs, deploys and integrates those systems for UAE businesses — and wires the data into the ERP your team already uses, rather than into another dashboard nobody opens.

How it works

Connect, monitor, act

Three steps, and the third is the one most deployments skip.

  1. 01

    Connect

Sensors and gateways are fitted to the equipment, vehicles or spaces you want visibility over. Older machinery without native connectivity is retrofitted, so you are not replacing working assets simply to get data out of them.

    Retrofit, not replace
  2. 02

    Monitor

Readings stream continuously — vibration, temperature, humidity, current draw, run hours, GPS position, fuel level. Thresholds and learned patterns flag anything abnormal without a person watching a screen.

    No one watching a screen
  3. 03

    Act

Alerts and data flow into the systems where work actually happens. A run-hour threshold raises a maintenance work order. A temperature breach starts a compliance record. A vehicle entering a site logs its arrival time automatically.

Into the ERP, not a portal

Scope

What IoT is actually for

Most IoT projects that fail do so for one reason: somebody installed sensors before deciding what decision the data was going to change. The three applications that consistently pay back in UAE businesses are narrow and unglamorous.

01Knowing where your equipment is

Tags, scans and GPS against the asset register, so the thing that exists on paper can also be found on site.

02Knowing when a machine is about to fail

Condition data compared against learned normal behaviour, so a fault is scheduled rather than survived.

03Proving a reading was what you say it was

A temperature, a location or a working hour, recorded continuously and attached to the record that needs it.

Almost everything else is a variation on those three. If a proposed deployment does not map onto one of them, it is usually a technology showcase rather than an operational fix.

Asset tracking

Asset tracking software

Asset tracking software records where equipment is, who holds it and what condition it is in, using barcodes, RFID tags or GPS depending on the asset's value and how much it moves.

The problem

On the register, not on site

It solves a problem every contractor and facility manager recognises: equipment that exists on the fixed asset register but cannot be located on site.

  • › Tools disappear between projects
  • › A generator gets lent to a subcontractor and never comes back
  • › Physical verification produces an exception list nobody can explain
  • › The register drifts further from reality each year
Fixed asset register →
What changes

Movements recorded as they happen

Tagged assets are scanned on issue, transfer and return. Higher-value or mobile assets carry GPS, so location is live rather than last-known. The register reconciles because movements were recorded as they happened, not reconstructed at year-end.

  • › Scanned on issue, transfer and return
  • › GPS on higher-value and mobile assets
  • › Service history against the same record
  • › A true lifetime cost per asset
Scope a deployment →

Linked to your fixed asset register, service history and depreciation sit against the same record. That produces a true lifetime cost per asset — the figure that tells you when repairing has stopped being cheaper than replacing.

Integration

Connecting IoT data to your ERP

This is where most IoT deployments in the UAE fall short, and it is the part QZ Infomatics is built for. The sensors are the easy part.

Data on a dashboard

Somebody has to look, then act

  • × A screen that gets opened in the first month and not the third
  • × Alerts by email, to an inbox already full of alerts
  • × Readings that never reach the maintenance schedule
  • × Asset movements still recorded on a transfer form
  • × Downtime invisible in the cost of what was being made

Deciding what each reading should trigger, and building that into the system your team already works in, is the engagement. Custom integration →

Condition monitoring

Predictive maintenance, not a calendar

Predictive maintenance uses live equipment data to forecast failure, instead of waiting for a breakdown or servicing on a fixed calendar whether the machine needs it or not.

What it reads

Deviation from learned normal

Vibration, temperature, current draw and acoustic signature are compared against learned normal behaviour, and deviation is flagged before it becomes a fault. Combined with run hours and service history, maintenance shifts from reactive to scheduled around actual condition.

  • › Vibration and acoustic signature
  • › Temperature and current draw
  • › Run hours against service history
  • › Thresholds and learned patterns, not just limits
CMMS & maintenance →
Why here specifically

The environment does the damage

For UAE operators, heat, dust and humidity age equipment faster than the manufacturer's service interval assumes. Calendar schedules imported from a European manual are consistently wrong here, in both directions.

  • › Some machines are serviced far too often
  • › Others fail well before their stated interval
  • › Dust ingress shortens bearing life unpredictably
  • › Condition data replaces the guess in both directions

Fleet

Fleet management software

Fleet management combines GPS tracking with driver behaviour monitoring, fuel consumption, route history and service scheduling. For UAE operators the measurable gains usually appear in fuel and overtime rather than in tracking itself.

Route history settles disputes

Where a vehicle was, and for how long. That single record closes arguments about overtime, site attendance and delivery times without anyone reconstructing a day from memory.

Driver behaviour supports negotiation

Harsh braking and speeding data backs driver coaching, and gives you something concrete to put in front of an insurer at renewal.

Service by odometer, not by date

Scheduling against actual distance produces a documented service history, and a documented history holds resale value.

Where the fleet serves projects or customers, linking trips to jobs allocates vehicle cost to the work that generated it instead of absorbing it into overhead. Logistics →

Hardware and connectivity

Hardware, connectivity and where the data lives

Hardware is chosen for the environment before anything else. Sustained heat, dust ingress and direct sun rule out a great deal of general-purpose equipment that performs adequately elsewhere, and expected battery life drives the rest of the specification. Connectivity depends on the site: cellular for vehicles and remote assets, LoRaWAN or similar for large sites with many low-bandwidth sensors, wired or Wi-Fi where infrastructure already exists.

Cloud and on-premise hosting for an IoT deployment
Cloud-basedOn-premise
No additional hardwareRuns on a local server you already own
Scales automatically, deploys in daysLow latency, and data never leaves the building
Suits multi-site operations and SMEsSuits government, defence, oil and gas

Which one is right is usually decided by a data-residency requirement rather than by cost. Where that constraint exists, it is settled at scoping rather than after the sensors are fitted.

Start small

Start with a pilot

Because hardware cost scales linearly with the number of assets monitored, IoT is one of the few technology decisions where a pilot genuinely reduces risk rather than delaying the project.

01One line, one site, one vehicle group

Four to six weeks including procurement and fitting. Small enough to fund without a business case, large enough to prove one.

02Three questions it answers

Do the sensors survive the environment, does the data actually predict what it is supposed to predict, and does anyone act on the alert.

03Then the rollout is paced by access

Fitting trackers to a working fleet or sensors in an occupied building happens around operations, and that usually sets the timeline rather than the technology.

IoT FAQs

What buyers ask us about IoT

What are IoT solutions for business?

IoT solutions connect equipment, vehicles and environments to software through sensors and gateways, so condition and location are visible in real time. Common applications are asset and fleet tracking, temperature and humidity monitoring, energy metering, and machine-condition monitoring that flags failure before it happens.

What is asset tracking software?

Asset tracking software records where equipment is, who holds it and what condition it is in, using barcodes, RFID tags or GPS depending on the asset’s value and mobility. It solves the recurring problem of tools and equipment that exist on the register but cannot be found on site.

How does fleet management software work in Dubai?

Fleet management combines GPS tracking with driver behaviour monitoring, fuel consumption, route history and service scheduling. For UAE operators the measurable gains usually appear in fuel and overtime rather than in tracking itself, plus a documented service history that supports resale value and insurance claims.

Can IoT data connect to our ERP?

Yes, and that is where it becomes useful. Sensor data flowing into the ERP can trigger a maintenance work order at a run-hour threshold, update the asset register automatically, or post machine downtime against a production order. Data sitting on a separate dashboard nobody opens delivers far less.

Which industries use IoT in the UAE?

Facility management for building systems and energy, contracting for plant and equipment tracking, manufacturing for machine monitoring, logistics for fleet and cold chain, and food distribution for temperature compliance. Cold-chain monitoring in particular is driven by regulation rather than by efficiency gains.

What hardware is needed for an IoT deployment?

Sensors or trackers matched to what is being measured, a gateway or SIM-based connectivity, and a platform to receive and store the data. Hardware choice is driven by environment — outdoor UAE heat and dust rule out a lot of general-purpose equipment — and by expected battery life.

How much does an IoT project cost?

Cost has three parts: hardware per monitored asset, ongoing connectivity and platform subscription, and one-off integration and configuration work. Because hardware scales linearly with asset count, most projects start with a pilot on one site or one vehicle group before committing to a full rollout.

How long does IoT deployment take?

A pilot across a limited set of assets takes four to six weeks including hardware procurement. Full rollout depends mainly on installation access — fitting trackers to a working fleet or sensors in an occupied building has to be scheduled around operations, and that usually sets the timeline.
